San Francisco, Surigao del Norte — The provincial government here cannot wait for the Department of Public Works and Highways to act but instead will use its own funds to build a detour bridge after the Anao-aon Bridge was destroyed by the Feb. 10 earthquake.

A growing clamor and complaints from thousands of stranded residents of the two coastal towns in the province has pushed the local government to its decision.

Since then, the problem of where four-wheeled vehicles would detour because during rainy season passing Anao-aon River is too risky due rising of water level and the temporary detour is located far away about half kilometer from the destroyed bridge is and motorists have to pass by Barangays Diaz and Honrado before reaching the town proper.
