Eduarte served as regional director of the public works department in Region 8.

It was learned that the new assignments took effect on Friday, days after the collapse of a section of a bridge project in Opol, Misamis Oriental that caused monstrous traffic jams from the Bulua area up to El Salvador in Misamis Oriental.

Barroso, it was also learned, is set to retire from the government service this March 22 when she turns 65.

Meanwhile, the plan to develop a detour promised by UKC Builders near the bridge project in Igpit, Opol may not materialize anytime soon.

Vinah Mahinay, DPWH spokesperson for Region 10, said the DPWH and UKC inspected the area yesterday morning in order to see if a diversion road could be provided.

Mahinay said this was made after traffic jams took place again in Igpit yesterday.

Maghinay said the DPWH never said it would provide a detour, pointing out that it was promised by UKC Builders engineer Kenneth Fabrea. (nitz arancon)
