Chief Insp.Wilfredo David, the city’s new fire marshall, revealed this even as he hinted of an impending BFP campaign to make citizens comply with the Fire Code in the city.

“Kon kininahanglan nga  atong ipasera, atong serhan hangtud nga ilang i-comply ang requirement sa  code,” said David two days before the BFP concludes the celebration of the Fire Prevention Month.

He said the most common violations noted were the absence of fire extinguishers,  fire hydrants and sprinklers and other fire safety devices, and fire exits in the establishments.

David said even some buildings owned by the government, including public schools in the city, were found to be unsafe by inspectors.

He said the BFP would soon inspect city hall buildings to find out if the local government has complied with the Fire Code or not.

David said the erring establishments were notified about their violations, and they could be penalized unless they complied with the fire safety requirements.
