AN estimated P9.5 million worth of illegal drugs have been seized by the entire police force in northern Mindanao during the first quarter of this year.

Police Regional Office (PRO-10) spokesperson Supt. Lemuel Gonda said the police officers assigned in various municipalities, cities, and province operations has confiscated a total of 1.8 kilograms of suspected shabu and 2.9 kilograms of marijuana.

Gonda said the total haul was only based on the first quarter of this year –– from January to March.

He said the massive police operations against illegal drugs were done in line with the directive of PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa under Project Double Barrel.  The Police Regional Office 10 stepped up its anti-illegal drugs operations in the entire region.

Records show that since Jan. 1 to March 31 this year there were 608 operations conducted by PRO-10 campaign against illegal drugs, of which 192 operations were conducted in Cagayan de Oro City Police and bested other provinces and cities police office.

Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) listed on the top post in the first quarter.

Listed second is 105 police operations in Iligan City Police Office, 103 in Bukidnon Provincial Police Office, 94 in Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office, 77 in Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office, 51 in Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office, and six in Camiguin Provincial Police Office.

Also, a total of 931 cases have been filed in court. Meanwhile, 64,039 households have been re-visited and 8,449 new household visited by police stations with 88 self-confessed drug users and eight drug pushers have voluntarily surrendered.

Gonda said with these accomplishments, Chief Supt. Agripino Javier commended the Police Regional Office 10 personnel of their extreme efforts in anti-illegal drug operations “until we have achieved the main purpose of clearing all drug-affected barangays in northern Mindanao by arresting top drug personalities and dismantling drug syndicates who operate in the region.”
