Chief Insp. Evan Viñas, Cugman police station chief, said the additional charge is based on the complaint of relatives of Ronnie Abrio who died together with his three children when a truck driven by Freddie Talisayan hit them on the highway two Sundays ago.

The new complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple murder and damage to property was filed against the siblings before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Freddie’s brother Felix was included because he was serving as the driver’s helper when the trucked rammed several vehicles on the highway.

The new complaint was filed after the the police released Felix from detention and moved Freddie to the Lumbia jail.

Felix, 32, was not included by the prosecutors in the first case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide that was filed before a municipal court here.

But assistant city prosecutor Alfonso Vicente held the 30-year old Freddie responsible based on the complaint filed by the family of Vannesa Tadias, one of those who died in the April 9 highway rampage.

Police said prosecutors downgraded the Tadias case against Freddie from reckless imprudence resulting in murder to reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple serious physical injuries, and damage to property.

Vicente recommended a P24 thousand bailbond for Freddie.

Vicente said only Freddie could be held liable for the deaths because he was the one who drove the six-wheel truck of El Raro Farm.

Vicente’s resolution was approved by city prosecutor Merlyn Uy.

Chief Insp. Viñas said Freddie did not bail out, and so he was sent to the Lumbia prison.

He said Felix was released and was turned over to his sister who lives in Initao, Misamis Oriental.

“Ato na to siya (Felix) nga gipaeceive sa iyang igso-on in good physical  condition,” Viñas said.
