MAYOR Oscar Moreno over the weekend claimed he berated Barangay 33 chairman Conrad Lim over the village chief’s refusal to give way to a coastal road project in Lapasan.

Moreno claimed that he complained and expressed his displeasure when Lim and a group went to see him recently.

“Ako baya na siyang (Lim) gibadlong. Adto-adto siya sa opisina, na-ay iyang gi-ubanan,” said Moreno. “Ingon ko, ‘Ayaw dala-dala dinhig kuan as if sponsor ka pag kuan. Ayoha sa nang inyong kuan diha.’ Akong giprangkahan.”

Moreno said Lim was warned beforehand against pursuing a reclamation project to expand his Lapasan property because the coastal road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) would cut across the shoreline.

He said Lim did not heed the warning because at that time he had strong political connections.

Moreno said, “Salig man lagi kay kusog man siya. Gusto nila nga ang  DPWH ma-oy moliko. Nagsalig gyud. Ako na siya nga gibadlong.”

He called what Lim did “ngil-ad,” and the reclamation  “absolutely wrong.”

Moreno said, “Dili na unta grabi karon ang traffic sa Recto Avenue kon gihatag pa lang unta ni Lim ang right-of-way sa Lapasan nga  gikinahanglan sa DPWH.”

But Moreno said he would respect the legal processes as the DPWH moves to take back the reclamation area to be affected by the coastal road project.

He said, “Siempre, we cannot take the law into our  own hands. Ipa-agi pa gyud gihapon sa nato proseso.”
