THREE more councilors yesterday expressed  apprehensions over the Supreme Court’s order to make the Regional Trial Court and the Court of Appeals-Mindanao station here handle all Maute Group cases and pleadings pertaining to the anti-terror law.

Councilor George Goking said the SC order would endanger local government employees given that city hall has become a temporary home to the regional courts since the Hall of Justice was razed to the ground in January 2015.

Another councilor, Leon Gan, said he doubted if city hall can handle such a security situation.

Councilor Yam Lam Lim, president of the city’s Liga ng Mga Barangay, complained: “Dili kana pwede nga basta-bastahon lang kita dinhi. Daghan affected ani.”

Goking said suggested that the Maute cases be heard inside Camp Evangelista in Patag or Camp Alagar in Lapasan, and not in city hall.

Gan said that while the SC order should be respected, it should also be considered that “open baya kaayo ang city hall.”

City prosecutor Merlynn Uy earlier said hearing the Maute cases in the city would be a “security nightmare” as far as the entire city is concerned.
