The fire also destroyed Palaña Grocers Plaza, Mom’s Chicken,   pharmacy and an optical clinic, among others.

There was no report on casualties.

SFO2 Dinnes Dales, a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) investigator, said his initial estimate on the structural damages alone was over P7 million.

Dales said investigators were still determining the cause of the fire. But he said they were looking into claims that one of the airconditioning units may have sparked the fire in the four-story hotel.

He said the fire had been thought to have been placed under control at around 5 am yesterday but then it reignited and started spreading again. (nitz arancon)
