President Rodrigo Duterte visited the city of Ozamiz the day after the Parojinogs were buried.
Ozamiz City Police Chief Jovie Espenido welcomed the President and party during the visit to the city.
“I came here to assure you hindi ko kayo pababayaan,” Duterte told Ozamiz police. The President has allocated P50 billion for the education of the children of the police.
The Parojinogs, who were slain in a bloody encounter on July 30 were buried a day earlier.
Addressing the media in a presscon during his visit on Thursday, Duterte said the youth is the hope and treasure of the country and that parents are responsible for their welfare.
He also told the troops not to be involved in drugs since this “will destroy society.”
“I feel bad knowing the agony of many parents who are separated from families as they have to work abroad,” Duterte said.
He added that Filipinos working overseas are treated as slaves just to earn money while their families in the country become dysfunctional and vulnerable to the temptations of drug use.
