THE Technical Skills Development Authority gave the capitol a “Kabalikat” award for its contribution in reducing the number of out-of-school-youth in communities through educational programs and scholarship grants.

Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano said only nine received the award of the 81 provinces, 1,500 municipalities and 115 cities. Of the nine local government unit awardees, only two were from Mindanao — Tagum City and Misamis Oriental.

Emano called the Kabalikat award “prestigious.”

“We are proud of it,” Emano said on Tuesday.

The Kabalikad award, the first for Misamis Oriental, was given in Manila on Aug. 23.

The capitol has claimed to have produced 16,000 graduates during the last three years under the “Iskolar Ko Ni Bambi.” The program provides four-year course grants.

“This year, we are sending to school at least 3,000 scholars through the same program,” Emano  said. (misor pio)
