THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office would step up security measures in the city starting today in time for the three-day Mindanao Business Conference at the Xavier Estates Country Club.

Senior Supt. Robert Roy Bahian said the security operations would be intensified especially on Saturday when President Duterte comes to speak during the big gathering of business and industry leaders.

Chief Insp. Mardy Hortillosa, Cocpo spokesman, said some 1,400 officers would be deployed to secure delegates to the Mindanao Business Conference, and places where they would be staying.

The Army’s 4th Infantry Division would also field troops to help in the police security operations for the conference organized and hosted by the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and  Industry Foundation Inc..

President Duterte would address the business and industry leaders on Saturday, confirmed former Oro Chamber president  Efren Uy.

Councilor George Goking, chairman of the city council’s committee on trade and commerce, said there would be foreign delegates coming from as far as Russia and France. Organizers, he said, were expecting about a thousand participants.
