Chief Insp. Evan Viñas, chief of the Police Station 10  here, identified the suspect as Mamerto Liamet of Bukidnon.

Police tried to serve a search warrant against Liamet in FS Catanico on Sunday night, and failed.

But Viñas said members of the Special Weapons and Tactics, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit found two shotguns with five bullets, a MK2 grenade, IDs and a cellphone when they search the suspect’s house based on a warrant issued by Judge Dennis Alcantar of the Regional Trial Court Branch 18.

Viñas said the suspect was armed with a caliber .45 pistol and he fired shots at the raiding team.

“Gigukod pa namo siya pero nakasibat gyud. Wala nalang pud namo gi-pursue kay gabii na pud. Naa ra ba sa bukid,” said Viñas.

According to Viñas, Liamet is a suspect in the killing of a retired police officer in the city.

He said there were also reports that Liamet has been selling home-made firearms aside of being a hitman.
