AUTHORITIES arrested a suspected member of a sub-group of the dreaded Kuratong Baleleng gang and his brother-in-law in a raid at Apovel Subdivision in Barangay Bulua, this city, yesterday morning.

Members of the Martial Law Special Action Group   allegedly seized from the suspects explosives and illegal drugs.

Armed with a search warrant issued by a court in Gingoog City, authorities raided the house of suspect Rico Bacon of Mother of Perpetual Help in Apovel at around 6:45 am. Bacon was arrested together with his brother-in-law, one Jun Toledo.

Authorities confiscated during the raid a 9mm pistol a M2K grenade, nine sachets in of suspected shabu, and ammunition.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director Adrian Alvarino said Bacon is a member of “Kubaldra,” a sub-group of Ozamiz City’s dreaded Kuratong Baleleng.

He also accused Bacon of being a “dummy” of the Parojinog family here.

“Gihimo nga dummy ni Parojinog dinhi sa Cagayan de Oro si Rico Bacon, apan dihang iyang nasayran nga namatay na si Parojinog atol sa operation sa kapulisan sa Ozamiz City iya matud pa nga gibalhin sa iyang pangalan ang mga property ni Parojinog,” said Alvarino.

Alvarino said Bacon and Toledo were in the watchlist of the PDEA.

He said Toledo’s former live-in partner, Ma. Lourdes Legaspi, was arrested in Oroquieta City, for her alleged links to the illegal drug trade in Misamis Occidental.

The two suspects, according to Alvarino, were detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s regional headquarters at the 4th Infantry Division in Patag, and would be charged with of illegal possession of firearms, explosives and illegal drugs.
