MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano on Monday said he was leaving his political future in the hands of the Padayon Pilipino, and on the wishes of his father Vicente who founded the political party.

In a statement released by the capitol’s press office, Emano said he is willing to do the extreme — even run for President — if that is what the Padayon Pilipino and his father want.

Emano’s father Vicente, a former mayor of the city, is the founding leader of the Padayon Pilipino who dominated the city’s politics for 15 years.

He stated: “… I have to depend on the party. Partilista man gud ako.

Emano said this even as he claimed to be hurting as a result of what he referred to as “politically colored attacks” by groups associated with Mayor Oscar Moreno.

The “attacks,” according to the capitol’s press statement, were “inspired by worries from Mayor Oscar Moreno’s camps that the governor is likely to run for mayorship in Cagayan de Oro in 2019.”

Emano alleged that Moreno’s “attack dogs” lambasted him as soon as talk started doing the rounds that he would run for mayor of the city in the next elections.

The governor said voters, in the end, would decide on the fate of politicians “so, they don’t have to worry about it.”

He said he was also being faulted for the string of cases filed against Moreno.

Emano complained: “Paningkamot gyud sila.

Emano said he has no interest in seeing Moreno booted out of office given that his successor, Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy, is an ally of the mayor.

Neither did he complain about the issuances of temporary restraining orders by the appellate court, said Emano, adding that the law allows that just like special audits conducted by the Commission on Audit.

He said that when he succeeded Moreno as governor, he wanted to know the capitol’s available resources, including funds, vehicles and obligations.

In the meantime, he said he would rather do his job as governor and in implementing projects in the province.

Emano also “offered his hands [for] unity… to achieve progress in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental.”

He added: “Ugma nata sa 2019, diba dili tamo sibugan. Debate ta…”
