THE Department of Public Works and Highways won’t light up the newly opened section of the coastal road yet despite the string of accidents that have taken place there at night.

Vinah Maghinay, spokesperson of the DPWH for northern Mindanao, said the street lights for the Gusa-Agora coastal road would be included in next year’s budget of the department.

Maghinay said DPWH regional director Virgilio Eduarte’s target is to light up the entire Gusa-Agora stretch and complete everything during the second quarter or if not, by September 2018 or the 3rd quarter.

Maghinay said she does not know exactly how much the DPWH would spend for the street lights.

She however said the DPWH would only provide the street lights but the maintenance and electric bills would need to be shouldered by the local government.
