TWO capitol employees returned P5 thousand which they allegedly received from a Misamis Oriental-based company as a gift late last month, Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano said on Wednesday.

Emano did not identify the two employees but he lauded them when capitol officials and workers gathered for their first flagaising ceremony at the capitol grounds this year. Neither did he identify the company that supposedly gave the money.

Emano said the two capitol employees returned the money via  the capitol’s suggestion box.

“I hope more people and employees are like you in the provincial government,” he was quoted as saying in a Provincial Information Office dispatch.

According to the PIO, the “Christmas gift” was given on Dec. 29, 2017.

The PIO stated that Emano did not name the company and the persons who returned the cash as requested by the two employees in their letter to the governor.

“I am inspired, and I hope you will be also,” Emano told the capitol crowd on their first working day this year.

He added: “I don’t know how to honor you. I hope we would be able to give justice to what you did. This is a rare occasion in the capitol. It’s not yet too late for us to have such kind of workers in the capitol. Thank you very much for being an inspiration to me and to the other employees. I hope there will be more of you.”

Capitol spokesperson Nicole Managbanag said the employees requested anonymity. She also did not identify the company referred to in the PIO’s press release when she was asked to name the firm.
