ILIGAN City — A lawyer here has accused Roman Catholic priest turned Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz of failure to file his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth in violation of the law.
Lawyer Vermin Quimco on Tuesday told local radio that Cruz should have filed his Saln because he is a public official.
But Cruz denied the allegation of Quimco, saying that he was willing to show his Saln to anyone.
Cruz dismissed Quimco’s accusation saying Quimco was merely “politicking.”
Quimco’s group adopted Cruz as its vice mayoral candidate. The same group supported the mayoral bid of Cocoy Sabarre, and fielded Quimco as its bet for a seat in the House of Representatives.
Sabarre was beaten by Mayor Celso Regencia, Quimco lost to now Rep. Frederick Siao while the Cruz, the mayor’s running mate, was elected vice mayor.
