WARM weather is prevailing over the country due to the ridge of high pressure area and the easterlies, and temperatures could further shoot up in the coming days.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the ridge of high pressure area is affecting the north while the easterlies are affecting the rest of the country.
Pagasa cautioned the public to protect themselves from the harmful effects of weather by drinking plenty of water, using an umbrella, and wearing light-colored clothes as rising temperatures may be felt in the next three days, reaching up to 49 degrees Celsius.
Excessive exposure to the sun could result in diseases, including sunburn, dizziness, headache, fainting and heat stroke.
Mindanao and the rest of Luzon and the country have been experiencing light to moderate winds from east to northwest with slight to moderate coastal waters.
In Cagayan de Oro, there were light to moderate winds from east to southeast, and the temperature rose to 31 °C up to 33 °C.
Metro Manila has been having cloudy to partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms while Northern Luzon has been experiencing occasionally strong winds from east to southeast with coastal waters becoming moderate to rough.
The eastern section of Central Visayas and Southern Luzon has been having east to northwest winds pulling occasionally rough coastal waters. (pna)
