THE crime rate in northern Mindanao plunged by 40.27 percent during the first six months of the year compared to the rate during the same period in 2017, Camp Alagar said over the weekend.
Supt. Surki Sereñas, police spokesman for Region 10, said the police in northern Mindanao was cited by National Police Director General Oscar Albayalde for the feat during a recent command conference at Camp Crame that was called to map out security plans in time for President Duterte’s July 23 state-of-the-nation address.
The drop in the crime rate placed Camp Alagar on the top of Albayalde’s list, besting all other regions nationwide.
Sereñas said data show an unprecedented 40.27-percent decrease in total crime volume in Region 10 during the first six months of the year compared to the crime rate during the same period in 2017.
This means a decrease of 4,986 crime cases in northern Mindanao during the period, he said.
Data show a 65.99-percent decrease in robbery cases and a 71.52-percent decrease in theft cases from January to June 2018 compared to the same period last year.
“This clearly shows that our crime prevention programs are effective,” said regional police director Chief Supt. Timoteo Pacleb.
Pacleb gave this message to police officers in the region: “Let us carry on until we attain a crime- and drug-free northern Mindanao.”
