Iligan City — Acting Vice Mayor Samuel Huertas yesterday said the city is going after the operators of Small Town Lottery outlets.

These operators, he said, are just riding on the “lotto’’ and they do not have business permits and other licenses to operate in the city.

“Many are just labeling their business as ‘STL’ when, in fact, they are just “suertres” operators which is illegal. In fact, the winning results come from local operators too.

The city council has come up with the ordinance to go after the illegal operators. He added that acting city mayor Jemar Vera Cruz has already directed the police led by newly installed Senior Supt. Manuel Alvarez to go after them.

To note, many people are into betting in “STLs” hoping that they could hit the jackpot. Results in the lotto and in the STL sometimes vary as the latter results are mostly dictated by local financiers.
