PROVINCIAL elections officer Carlito Ravelo has recommended a replacement for arrested Gitagum town elections officer Jose Mari Fernandez.
Ravelo recommended Butch Baguio to be the replacement of Fernandez to Commission on Elections director for northern Mindanao Reynato Magbutay.
Baguio is presently serving as a staff member of Magbutay in the regional office of the Comelec.
Magbutay has yet to act on Ravelo’s recommendation as of Monday.
“Kamolo pa pud sila sa regional office pag-deliberate sa akong recommendation kay na-a man poy trabaho ni Baguio nga iyang mabiya-an kon siya ang mopuli sa trabaho ni Fernandez sa Gitagum,” Ravelo said.
The registration of voters in Gitagum grounded was suspended as a result of Fernandez’s arrest by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the city on Wednesday. The Gitagum elections officer was charged with selling illegal drugs.
“Dili man puwede magegister ta kon walay Comelec officer kay ang Comelec officer ra man ang maka-decide kon iehistro ba niya o dili ang usa botante,” Ravelo said.
In Fernandez’s absence, Alvin Yacar, the town’s assistant elections officer, is serving as the office’s “caretaker.”
Ravelo however said Yacar’s responsibility is limited to receiving communications. (Nitz Arancon)
