THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) is contemplating on proposing a city ordinance that, if approved, would prohibit two men or more from riding a motorcycle in the city at the same time.
Cocpo spokesperson Supt. Mardy Hortillosa revealed this over the weekend as a response to the two gun attacks carried out in broad daylight by gunmen riding motorcycles in tandem.
“Actually, aduna nay plano ana pero di man na ma-implement unless naay city ordinance. Amo ra nang i-propose sa city council para ma-implement na dayon,” Hortillosa said.
But here’s the catch: Hortillosa said the proposal only applies to men.
He said men riding motorcycles together should not be allowed if only to prevent similar gun attacks.
Police continue to face a blank wall in the investigation into the shooting of Supt. Michael John Deloso near the capitol on Tuesday, and Barangay 3 councilor Jonathan Borja in Nazareth on Friday.
Despite being caught on CCTV camera, Hortillosa said investigators were still facing difficulties in identifying the suspects in the attack on Borja because only the back of their heads were recorded.
But Hortillosa said the police were still on the process of collecting more CCTV footages in the hope of identifying at least one of the assailants who wore no mask or helmet.
Hortillosa said police would also try to enhance the motorcycle’s license plates in the hope of getting useful data.
“Amo pud i-consider ang tulo ka tawo nga nakalalis ni kagawad (Borja) sa unang panahon,” said Hortillosa without elaborating.
