THE Office of the Civil Defense and the Bureau of Fire Protection yesterday frowned over what it said was city hall’s unpreparedness for a major earthquake.

OCD evaluator Patrick Allanta opted not to give the local government a grade following an earthquake drill at city hall yesterday morning, said Nic Jabagat, officer-in-charge of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department.

Jabagat said Allanta noted that there were many things lacking like an alarm system.

The OCD noted that all the city hall offices have no alarm system and there were no signages that could help people flee to safety in case of a powerful earthquake.

Jababat said OCD also noted that city hall employees were “noisy” during the drill.

“Dapat dili magsaba ang mga tawo nga mi-gawas sa ilang mga opisina kay aron ilang madunggan kon dunay  instruction ang ilang mga earthquake marshall,” he said.

Jabagat said every  city hall office needs to have an earthquake marshall trained to give instructions in the event of an earthquake, and that the local government should put in place alarm systems and signages.

Jabagat said city hall would follow the advice of the OCD and BFP by next year.
