A total of 31 former New People’s Army (NPA) guerillas received a cash assistance from the government during a simple ceremony here on Wednesday.

The Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) Committee in Region 10 successfully awarded cash to former rebels (FRs) at Casa de Canitoan, this city.

Checks amounting to P65,000 as livelihood and immediate cash assistance were formally handed over to the FRs in a ceremony that was participated by E-Clip committee chair of Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano represented by lawyer Niel Pacana, the Provincial Legal Officer; Brigadier Gen. Franco Nemesio M Gacal AFP representing Usec Reynaldo Mapagu, the chairperson of Task Force Balik-Loob together with Col. Edgardo De Leon, 403rd Brigade Commander and partner agencies from Task Force- Balik-Loob.

In just about two months, from January to date, a total of 23 FRs have surrendered to the units under the 4th Infantry Division. They are currently undergoing the E-Clip process for their benefits.

“E-Clip is not forever, it is a program of the government. I am appealing to these former rebels and the media present to further disseminate the program to reach the active NPA members in the region for them to avail the program,” De Leon said.
