Mayoral bet admits operating businesses in Iligan without permits

Iligan City — Asked by media yesterday whether his businesses in the city have the necessary business permits, a businessman here initially demurred but later admitted to operating businesses without permits from the city adding that he doesn’t want the matter to be made public.

Marianito Alemania, who is running for mayor of this city, claimed that they had already complied with the necessary paper work and  paid the necessary payments  early January this year before the deadlines. But, he said the permits are not signed yet.

He said he had asked Samuel Huertas, and he said he learned that Huertas was not given permits too for his “Tatay’s Grill.” The latter, to note runs for vice mayor under his ticket. Maybe the officials had just been “very busy” that’s why. Alemania, to note, is chief executive officer of Madelicious Foods Corporation.

Asked whether his businesses would be “padlocked” like some business critical to the present administration, Alemania said he does not think that the city would not go to that extent.

“The important thing is that the fees had been paid and the necessary receipts for said payments obtained,” he said adding that he had instructed the bookkeepers to follow it up.

He  added “this is already personalan,” taking a dig at city officials led by mayor Celso Regencia. The latter, to note runs for a third term as mayor of this city. Attitudes like this, he said is “not investor friendly.” He said he pays more than P1 million in permits to the city.
