A RESOLUTION requesting the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to continue with the original plan of the 30-meter wide road from LTO to the Coastal Highway was approved by the 18th City Council during its regular session this week.

It was learned during the previous meeting of the committee on public works chaired by Councilor Zaldy Ocon that the construction of the access road is a project of the national government. Its original plan underwent public consultation with residents of Bulua. However, such plan was not followed by the DPWH and without prior notice they altered the original plan and made a new one, without public consultation, said Ocon.

The purpose of the DPWH for changing the plan was allegedly for practical and economic reasons. Many houses will be affected by the original plan.

The DPWH representative also claimed that some residents complained to the DPWH office. (sp)
