Iligan City — In his speech during the flag raising ceremonies this week at the city hall grounds at Buhanginan Hills, City Mayor Celso Regencia said among other things that he is going to hire retired police director Leony Roy Ga and lawyer Rafael Benedictos. Evidently still smarting from the defeat of Ga, Benedictos and others in his ticket, the mayor added that said personnel will be hired after one year.
To recall both ran under his ticket as representative of the lone district of the city while Benedictos ran as councilor. Other candidates under his ticket were Renato Ancis and Belinda Lim who also lost. Ga, he said will be assigned with solid waste management, water and peace and order. He did not particularly say where Benedictos would be specifically concerned, even as he hinted that Ancis and Lim too will be given positions. There are more than 400 positions to be filled up in the city hall, he said.
He did not mention one losing candidate, Bernard Pacana, who was with his team but crossed over to the the team of Rep. Frederick Siao at the 11th hour.
“I am now a changed man,” Regencia said.
Although he did not particulaly elaborate on the matter. He also added that he only has one case now against him that he had to deal with while Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz is facing four cases. (Nora Soriño, Ric Palahang, and Sita Asequia)
