According to Station Commander Ferdinand Montermoso, the PCG is expanding the organization through the activation of additional stations and sub-stations in far-flung areas to implement the mandated functions in Maritime Environmental Protection, Maritime Safety, and Maritime Law Enforcement and Security.

In his letter to the City Council, City Mayor Oscar Moreno said the site is intended for the establishment of the PCG’s office and other facilities. It shall serve as the depository area for its sea and port assets, including management and operation of the existing lighthouse tower.

The deed of usufruct is a manifestation of the city’s strong commitment to collaborate with the national government, thru the Philippine Coast Guard, in ensuring the safety of merchant vessels and their passengers, other seafarers and their boats, as well as the security of shoreline, said Moreno.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on police, fire and public safety chaired by  Councilor Romeo Calizo and on laws and rules with Councilor Zaldy Ocon, vice-chair. (sp)
