Shrimpips now at Grand Central

Cagayan de Oro never runs out of food scene, wherever you turn. It’s as vibrant as its people, and we discovered one place at the heart of the city that’s perfect for students, employees or basically for those that are craving for seafood served fast, delicious, and affordable at the same time.

We stumbled upon Shrimpips through word of mouth, but it has been around since June of last year at the Hive Food Park in Limketkai Center as Salarrito Shrimpips and has been getting great reviews from the foodies. They recently opened late June their second branch at Grand Central in Pabayo Hayes St. named “Shrimpips”.

At first, I thought Shrimpips was a wordplay between shrimps and people meaning “people who loves shrimps”; then Hannah Jerika Velayo owner of Shrimpips explained that I wasn’t entirely far from it. She shares that it was named after his business partner’s nickname “Pipoy” (Philip Michael Malalis).

Shrimpips was created was the brain child of the above, it was meant to cater to people that loves seafood, especially shrimps. The business revolves around it and is striving.

 “Ang shrimpips, gusto namo I cater ang seafood lovers sa Cagayan and at the same time maka offer ug something affordable. Katong bata pako dili kaayo kop aka eat ug shrimp, ayha pa basta nay party, ana bitaw. So karon gusto namo i-cater ang mga tao na hilig mag eat ug seafood rice meals,” Hannah fondly shared.

The difference between the two branch Salarrito Shrimpips (Salad and Burrito) at the Hive Food Park offers a variety of dishes compared to Shrimpips, but the latter is a bit more easy on the budget – and lowering the price really did not affect the taste.

“Amoang market is katong mga tao nag a work, students, and those on the go which is why ga serve mig mga rice meals. Barato pero lami,” she said.

Shrimpips also offers a wide on the go menu from Spricy Garlic Shrimps; salt & pepper Shrimps and Squid; Garlic Butter Shrimps; Soy-Garlic Chicken; and shrimp Gambas priced at P89. Not in the mood for shrimps yet? They also serve Beef Rice at P59, Pica-Pica (snacks) potato and nacho chips, platter fry and shrimp tempura, Salads and desserts.
