STARTING today, the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office will be issuing violation receipts in connection to the Integrated Solid Waste Management Ordinance.
On its Facebook page, Clenro urged residents to dispose their trash properly to avoid penalties and punishments for violating City Ordinance 13378-2018.
Among those considered as violations of individuals or establishments to the ordinance:
• using plastic cellophane, except for items exempted in the ordinance;
• littering: throwing of garbage in public places, including cigarette butts;
• illegal/bulk dumping: throwing of trash in non-designated areas, be it public or private property;
• open burning of garbage, including dried leaves;
• unsegregation of trash;
Barangays in the city were also reminded to provide materials recovery facilities that should be accessible to its constituents.
Clenro’s matrix of penalty are as follows:
• for issuing plastic bags, the penalty will be P3,000 per plastic bag issued by the establishment;
• for illegal or bulk dumping, there will be a fine of P5,000 or three months imprisonment or both;
• for littering, open burning, and unsegregated garbage, the erring individual or establishment will be fined P500 to P2,000 or one to five days community service.
