By TENG L. DATU Bureau Chief COTABATO City—An ex-village chair here in the city was shot dead along Sinsuat Avenue in front of Cotabato City National High School at around 5:00 pm the other day. Police identified the victim as certain Anwar Lucas former barangay chair of Rosary Height this city. Initial investigation revealed that the victim was driving his white multicab on his way home, but upon reaching  the national high school, the suspect riding in tandem came near the the victim’s vehicle  and open fired. The victim’s vehicle even rammed to another vehicle  as the victim driver  lose control of the vehicle due to wounds received from gun shots . Immediately the suspects fled  to undetermined direction. The victim was brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment but attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival due to  fatal gunshot wounds hitting his head from cal .45 pistol based on the empty shells recovered from the crime scene. Police conduct thorough investigation to determine the motive of the incident, they even theorized that personal grudge might  be surrounding the incident. Over the weekend, AnecitoRasalan, secretary to the mayor was also gunned  but  survived in the incident that occur also along Sinsuat Avenue, which is until now remained unsolved. Residents who refused not to be named  told  this paper that they were already alarmed of the shooting incidents happening in the city  now adding that  there is now a need for  police officers  to be visible in the streets to stop this killings.
