CAGAYAN de Oro preparedness and response cluster heads announced over the weekend that the distribution of relief goods in the city’s 80 barangays would begin this week.

Michael Fabello of the food and non-food cluster told reporters that they have started receiving the profiles of would-be beneficiaries from their respective barangays.

“Hopefully, makasugod na gyud (distribution) by Monday as per instruction ni mayor,” he said.

Fabello clarified that people who have lived in a certain barangay for at least six months are considered residents of that barangay.

“As per instruction, apilon gyud dapat ang mga renters,” he said.

He added that residents should expect to receive relief goods in tranches from the barangay, the city government, and from the national government.

For his part, Oliver Egypto of the governance cluster appealed to residents for patience and assured that the league of barangays have a unified guideline on the distribution of relief goods.

He added that the distribution of relief goods will be on a house-to-house basis.

He said that the distribution will be done by batches.

(Cong B. Corrales)
