AFTER the 9/11 jetplane attacks on the twin towers and Pentagon where thousands died, the Americans and Nato allies retaliated by, first, attacking Iraq and deposing Saddam Hussein, on the alleged ground that he had weapons of  mass destruction. It was later proven, and the Americans have admitted it later, that no such weapons really existed. They could not find any. They now admit that they invaded Iraq on the honest belief that it had weapons of mass destruction.

For years, so many Iraqis, Americans, and Nato members died and  were sacrificed on the altar of that unjustified war. If anybody profited from that war, it was mainly the war armaments businessmen whose profits soared, and unintentionally, the hardline Islamic groups profited from it, too.

The fire in Iraq did not stop burning with the demise of Saddam Hussein or even after the death of Osama bin Laden who was located and killed in Pakistan. The fire spread and became uncontrollable and has engulfed not only the Midle East but also northern Africa, and even beyond, including the Philippines. The so-called “Arab spring” or uprisings—from Iraq,  Syria, to Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Nigeria and other counties nearby turned into an “Arab inferno”—with  conflicts between the Shites and Sunnis, Christians and Muslims, and between  tribal groups exploding into suicide bombings, bombings by American, Nato and Russian planes and massacres, leaving a huge trail of destruction and misery.

But the conflagration has also resulted in a massive migration that perhaps the US and Nato never foresaw, a migration that could now Islamize Europe. Now, Europe is in trouble. Pro-migration and anti-migration groups are battling it out in the streets even as Europeans are trembling and fidgety in the face of suicide bombings and so-called “terrorism” on their doorsteps.

With climate change, droughts and floods, rising international conflicts almost everywhere, terrorism, and the threat of  nuclear destruction, we should all kneel, and pray.

My wife, Atty. Evangeline T. Carrasco who is the lone female candidate for the 2nd congressional district, has complained that her massive march and torch parade last March 28 around the city that was well-attended by supporters who were never paid, was never given space in the mass media.

What can she do?

She cannot afford the expensive rates media outlets are charging candidates during election time. Radio stations alone charge P100 thousand or more for a one-hour program! Fifty thousand pesos for a 30-minute program!

Anyway, you can just go to Facebook and click Atty. Evangeline T. Carrasco to see the massive march and torch parade.
