The road accident involved an old KIA sedan, driven by 42-year old Michael Abecia, and a Nissan pickup truck, driven by Michael Rey Huiso, and took place near the Primavera condominiums at around 8:30 pm.

PO3 Christopher Pagapulaan of the Carmen police said Abecia, his wife and two children were rushed to the Northern  Mindanao Medical Center by a rescue group from city hall.

Pagapulaan identified the three other victims as Abecia’s 40-year old wife Analiza, and children Deajay, 22, and Deajane Abecia, 13.

Pagapulaan said initial investigation showed that it was Abecia’s fault, and he could be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in damages.

He said the Abecias came from downtown Cagayan de Oro and were headed to their Lumbia home when their white KIA sedan, bearing license plates KBN-239, crashed onto the oncoming pickup truck with plates KGB-397.

Huiso and his wife, who were returning to their home in Bonbontogan, Jasaan  town, Misamis Oriental from Xavier Heights, were unhurt.
