LTO director for Region 10 Hilarion Ulep said Oplan Ligtas Biyahe is in line with a memorandum order from the Department of Transportation (DOTC) aimed at ensuring order, and the safety of people planning to go home to their respective provinces for the holidays.

“Mao naang istrikto nga gisusi sa atong mga enforcer kaganinang buntag (Friday) sa Bulua bus terminal,” said Ulep.

In their ocular inspection of passenger buses yesterday, LTO enforcers stopped two Super 5 buses from traveling to the cities of Iligan and Pagadian because these had defective tires and windshields.

For his part, LTO assistant regional director Nelson Manaloto said they also overloaded buses from leaving the terminal.

“Dapat ang tanang pasahero naglingkod,  wala’y nagtindog, kay kon na-ay magtindog, bo-ot pasabot nga  overcapacity na ang maong bus,”  said Manaloto.

Manaloto reminded passengers to always use the seatbelts and to give priority seating for persons with disability and senior citizens.

“Kinahanglan nga ang tanang bus ug uban pang mga public utility vehicle are (in) good running condition aron safety [sic] ang mga pasahero,” Manaloto said.

The LTO, Manaloto said, would be implementing Oplan Ligtas Biyahe until Nov. 2.
