CAGAYAN de Oro City is working on the finer points of its Children Code in preparation for its full implementation next year, the law’s forerunner said.

Councilor Reuben Daba, chairman of the committee of social services, told Gold Star Daily that his committee is currently working on the code’s implementing rules and regulations.

“IRR [implementing rules and regulations] nata karon, ma implement na ni next year.” he said.

The city’s Children Code is originally authored by Councilor Ian Acenas but was updated by the 18th City Council, Daba added.

Under the code, several rules will be applied in the city to protect the children here.

The councilor also said they plan to gather owners of short-time inns and motels in the city to seek their cooperation in the implementation of the law next year.

Plano namo maghimo nga unta naay commitment ang mga motels nga pagsulod palang i-abri gyud ang window (sa sakyanan) para makita gyud kinsay (naa sa) sa sulod,” Daba said.

He said there is no need for this kind of protocol in big hotels because it is standard for clients to show their credentials at the check-in desk.

Daba said he hopes they could finalize the code’s IRR as he believes that with these rules, the children of the city will be protected.
