Gingoog City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia told members of the city’s sports councils that he wants children, 13 years old and younger who come from poor families in the city be given attention through sports.

Gingoog City Sports Coordinator Tedd Julius Javier has confirmed to reporters here yesterday.

He said the vice mayor has urged the sports council in the city to take immediate action and find qualified children to be part of the training.

He said actually helping poor children from poor families is one of the priority programs of the city government of Gingoog under the tandem leadership of City Mayor Erick Cañosa and Unabia.

Javier said the sports program for the poor children will be a big help to minimized drug addiction, as well as other crimes that possibly involved children who are not in school.

Unabia want the problem to be addressed and urged to strengthen the Gingoog City Sports Council  to help children from poor families, said Javier.

Javier said the sports council had now to began its task to find potential benificiary-children from every barangay of the city, who are qualified in the sports program.

“The program also provides them (qualified poor children) to free education,” Javier added.

All expenses for the purpose of the sports program will be shouldered by the city government Javier said.
