The committee on health and health insurance chaired by Councilor Maria Lourdes Gaane health a meeting Wednesday afternoon to discuss nutrition-related policies to be adopted by the city.

One of these is Executive Order No. 51, which states that adopting a national code of marketing of breast milk substitutes, breast milk supplements and related products, penalizing violations and other purposes.

It includes the national policy on nutrition management in emergencies and disasters; Republic Act 10028 an act providing incentives to all government and private health institutions with rooming-in and breastfeeding practices; and revised implementing guidelines on Operation Timbang Plus.

Also discussed were policies for the under five age group including child under nutrition in the Philippines; guidelines on the fabrication, verification, and maintenance of wooden height boards; and policies on approving and adopting the guidelines on local nutrition planning; approving the strategic plan of the National Salt Iodization Program 2018-2022; guidelines on selection of non-wood height and length measuring tools.
