Thus said City Mayor Celso Regencia during the flag raising ceremony, Monday morning this week at the city hall grounds at Buhanginan hills, the previous weeks of which Mindanao experienced several earthquakes.

The mayor added that in one of those quakes, city hall employees weren’t quite sure what they were going to do. He took particular notice of Grace Joy Saquilabon, who he said was going about in no particular fashion. Saquilabon, to note is head of the City Social Welfare and Development here. He himself, he said, experienced some confusion, “morag nakutaw akong utok.” Thus he said that no amount of preparedness can really make us very ready of an eventuality such as an earthquake.

To recall, the city had drills several times as to what to do in case of earthquakes.

He said he has requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod to allocate funds to those who suffered the brunt of the calamity, specially in the Davao Region.

He then related that during Sendong, in 2011, Duterte, who was the vice mayor of Davao City then, came to this city bringing with him cash donation of P1 million.
