For every success and achievement made in the past and present, City Hall employees and officials should level up and strive to do better in serving the people of Cagayan de Oro.

Mayor Oscar Moreno issued this reminder anew to the city government’s workers and department heads, saying that every sacrifice and effort they made in service to the city’s residents will bear fruit and improve their welfare in the long term.

Kadaugan sa katawhan ang resulta, kalipay sa katawhan ang resulta,” Moreno said as he recalled the late vice president Emmanuel Pelaez’s words that ‘public service is an apostleship of service where one gives himself/herself unsparingly in the service of others.’

In his message during the 123rd Rizal Day observance at the Kiosko Kauswagan in Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City, Moreno told City Hall employees and officials that government service is ‘never-ending’ and they should never be complacent in meeting challenges to serving their constituents.

Moreno also cited the words of the late mayor Justiniano Borja, who said that the more one gives of oneself in service to others “receives the gift of life,” and a “thousand times more than” what one gives.

“Cagayan de Oro City is on its way to the top. But we cannot be complacent. We cannot rest on our laurels, we should continue to strive,” he said. (Stephen Capillas of City Information Office)
