A GUARD was killed when his gun accidentally went off in Macasandig on Thursday afternoon.

Maj. Duyle Buenaflor, Macasandig police chief, identified the victim as 34-year-old Ever Cabaring of Alco Homes, Zone 4, Zayas in Barangay Carmen.

He was inside the guard house at Tiera de Oro in Macasandig when the accident took place.

Police said Cabaring succumbed to a wound in the abdomen caused by the bullet that was accidentally discharged.

Police said the victim was about to have his lunch when he took a revolver from his holster to place it in his backpack. He accidentally dropped the gun in the process and it went off as soon as it hit the ground.

Buenaflor said Cabaring had just arrived and was supposed to replace another guard.

Cabaring was rushed to the Maria Reyna hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In another development, authorities arrested a jeepney barker for allegedly selling a sachet of shabu to a police agent who posed as a buyer during a buy-and-bust operation on JR Borja Extension on Thrsday night.

Maj. Buenaflor identified the suspect as 32-year-old Cliff Sante of Malaybalay in Bukidnon, who lives at Sto. Niño, Agora in Lapasan, this city.

Buenaflor said Sante was arrested right after he gave a police agent a sachet of suspected shabu after being paid P500 during the entrapment.

Sante, according to the police, tried to escape but officers caught up with him during a brief chase.

Police searched Sante and they found him allegedly keeping a relatively large sachet of suspected shabu estimated to command a selling price of P25,000.

Sante admitted to the crime. He said,his daily earnings were insufficient and so, he opted to sell illegal drugs as a “sideline” in order for him and his children to survive.

The suspect promised investigators that he would give them a list of all his clients.

Police brought him to a detention cell at the Maharlika police headquarters while charges are being prepared against him.
