BUTUAN City – Police arrested a bus inspector for allegedly blackmailing a senior high student so she would have sex with him.
The worker was arrested in an entrapment operation by the Caraga police’s Regional Anti-Cyber Unit Tuesday evening last week.
Police said 30-year-old Ronevil E. Genova of Purok 2, Barangay Tagabayagan in Rosario town, Agusan del Sur, uploaded nude photos of the student and coerced her for sexual favors.
Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel, Jr, Caraga police director, said Genova was arrested after the victim complained that her nude photos were uploaded on the internet.
“At around 5 pm (Monday), went to the RACC unit to report the act of coercion by the suspect. Immediately, an entrapment operation was conducted by the elements of our Racu and Butuan City Police Office Station 4 which led to the arrest of the suspect at around 10:15 pm in Rotonda, Barangay Ampayon,” said Esquivel.
Esquivel said the suspect is said to be a former boyfriend of the victim and that he already uploaded their nude photos on social media and threatened to upload more of her pictures unless the victim grants him sexual favors.
Lt. Col. Fidel Fortaleza, Jr. Racu officer-in-charge, is facing a case for grave coercion under the Revised Penal Code, the Anti-photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, Violence Against Women and Children, and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
