ILIGAN City — Mayor Celso Regencia has admitted to slightly hurting a city hall employee but denied claims about the details of what happened in a police blotter.

Regencia said he merely “pinched” the ears of Norbel Romares even as he threatened to file charges against the worker.

Romares has accused the mayor of manhandling him inside Regencia’s office on Seminary Drive in Palao, this city, on Valentine’s Day.

Regencia said he pinched Romares’s ears after the Environment Management Bureau came to him and warned that city hall could be forced to pay P200,000 per day as a penalty for the pollution at Dodiongon Falls.

The mayor said Romares must pay for all these, and not the city, because it was the worker who allegedly released liquid wastes from the city’s materials recovery facility.

Romares, for his part, said he was bent on suing Regencia. (Nora Sorino, Ric Palahang and Sita Asequia)
