TALAKAG town in Bukidnon have been locked down yesterday morning because of the threats posed by the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

Talakag Mayor Virgito Factura said his decision for a lockdown was based on an executive order from the Bukidnon provincial government.

Bukidnon’s governor is Jose Ma. Zubiri whose senator son Juan Miguel tested positive for Covid-19 this week.

Factura said he has gone on self-quarantine for 14 days after the senator confirmed that he was Covid-19-positive. He said he was recently with Sen. Zubiri.

“Ang amo diri mild lang kay ang naay sakyanan nga muagi lang sa among lungsod padulong sa ilang lugar pwede among tugotan muagi. Kadtong taga diri kay naay paliton sa gawas, example sa Cagayan de Oro, puwede sila makagawas,” Factura said.

He said what is prohibited in the town are people from other places who visit their relatives or friends in the town.

“So far, smooth man ang dagan sa pagpatuman sa lockdown. Ang tanan nakasabot man nga ang maong order para man gihapon sa ilang kaayohan,” Factura said.

Even though there is no single Covid-19 case in Talakag, Factura added, such mitigation would go a long way in preventing the spread of the disease.
