LAGUINDINGAN Mayor Diosdado Obsioma has issued an order for the temporary closure of the airport starting yesterday for passenger flights to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019.

Under Executive Order 008 -07120, the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental will remain closed until President Duterte’s Proclamation 922 will be lifted.

Obsioma, however, emphasized that the closure order only covers all passenger flights. All cargo and supply flights will continue.

On Tuesday, the President issued Proclamation 929 declaring a state of calamity in the entire country due to the Covid-19 contagion.

The proclamation gives local governments across the country the power to utilize its appropriate funds, including the Quick Response Fund in their disaster preparedness and response efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 and to provide basic services to the affected population.

The state of calamity will be in effect for six months unless earlier lifted or extended by the President.

Meanwhile, in Tagoloan, Mayor Gomer Sabio has placed the entire town under community quarantine.

Sabio, on Monday, issued Executive Order MGAS 2020-054 putting the town to quarantine as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.

Sabio has also ordered a curfew in Tagoloan from 8 pm to 5 am. Tagoloan curfew hours started Monday.

Mass gatherings are prohibited, municipality-wide clean-up and disinfection are also covered under Sabio’s Executive Order.
