SAGUIARAN, Lanao del Sur – The 82nd Infantry Battalion together with the different frontliners unite in battling Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) as it plagues Lanao del Sur for more than a month now.

COVID-19 already took 3 lives and continues to inflict sufferings and worries to the remaining vulnerable and suspected patients in the province.

Despite all the shortages on medical supplies and preparations, the frontliners and all stakeholders are not giving up and are doing everything to stop the spread of the virus.

In flattening the curve, a whole-of-nation-approach is working in Lanao del Sur.

Inspired by the spirit of “BAYANIHAN”, the military, police, provincial and municipal governments officials made it possible to deliver a total of 60,683 food packs already in 10 municipalities of Lanao del Sur.

To limit the number of people going out of the streets, the 82IB under the 103rd (HARIBON) Brigade in partnership with the World Food Program, Department of Trade and Industry, Bangon Marawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform, and Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism launched the ROLLING STORE which aims to bring the basic commodities closer to the doorstep of the people at a lower price.

The suspension of mass gatherings and formations did not limit the soldiers from raising health awareness to the public.

82IB together with the 12th CMO Battalion distributed more or less 1,500 COVID-19 information leaflets and conducted regular loudspeaker operations in the area.

As a result of the effective and efficient convergence of efforts of the different stakeholders, no additional COVID-19 cases recorded in 3 days, and 5 patients already recovered.

Your 82nd Infantry Battalion and the rest of the frontliners will always be steadfast in rendering service and assistance whenever and wherever.

Furthermore, we encourage the public to cooperate and follow the rules and policies being implemented by the authorities.

This is everybody’s fight. Together we can beat COVID-19. (PR)
