Pacturan, the country program officer of the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), a UN agency, has been on a 1,300-kilometer journey from Quezon City to Cagayan de Oro. He touched land in Mindanao Monday afternoon in the Lipata port in Surigao City after crossing from San Ricardo port in Southern Leyte. To make his lonely trip back home eventful, he took to Facebook, documenting his drive, asking friends to support the Covid 19 frontliners at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

In his post before starting his 3rd day on the road, he posted on FB:

“Third day of the journey

18 May 2020

Distance traveled 1,100 km

“Thanks, family, friends, and colleagues for all the prayers and well wishes… now almost over the Visayas leg…hoping and praying that I get to reach CDO tomorrow… if you wanna pledge for the frontliners of NMMC, please PM me. Hope you enjoyed my live feeds in FB. This is ain’t over until I reach CDO.

“Haven’t attempted to run in Legazpi and Tacloban since I need to leave early to catch up with the ferry boat schedules… will run in CDO though.”

Pacturan is set to arrive in Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday, where he is set to follow all quarantine protocols set by the city for new arrivals and start collecting pledges for the NMMC.

He did not divulge how much pledges he got, but, said it should amount to something meaningful.

Pacturan will continue working from home, supporting IFAD-financed agricultural projects in the Philippines and Myanmar. (Bencyrus Ellorin, Contributor)
