The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has recently announced the schedule of the reopening of barbershops and salons under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) this coming June 7, Sunday.

DTI said these establishments can operate at a maximum of 30% capacity during the General Community Quarantine (GCQ). Meanwhile, regions or city’s under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) will be allowed to operate at 50%.

“The earlier reopening was reconsidered by the Inter-Agency Task Force in recognition of the very strict health protocols that were developed. These guidelines must be closely adopted by these establishments in order to prevent any risk of COVID-19 transmission,” DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez said.

Lopez also clarified that only basic haircut and hairstyling services are allowed under GCQ to shorten the time of service and to have a faster turnover of customers.

SPAS, MASSAGE CLINICS, AND OTHER PERSONAL CARE SERVICES (MANICURE, PEDICURE, EYELASH EXTENSIONS, FACIAL CARE, ETC) WILL STILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE PENDING THE SPECIFIC / DETAILED GUIDELINES BY THE DTI. (RCB)
