THE Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) has permanently waived penalties for water bills with due dates falling within the period March 17 to June 30.

In a public notice released yesterday, the COWD announced its decision to further extend the waiver of penalties of water bill payments to include those with due dates falling within the period June 20-30.

The water district said the waiver is based on the Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 46-A, s-2020, that continued to place Cagayan de Oro under modified general community quarantine until June 30.

The COWD said the disconnection of services to those with overdue accounts will still be deferred until further notice.

Reads part of COWD’s statement: “Notwithstanding the need for water to ensure proper hygiene and sanitation, we are experiencing the impact of this pandemic on our finances. We also recognize its effect on our customers…

“Our customers’ safety is of utmost importance to us. Aside from implementing stringent health protocols as preventive measures, be assured COWD will do whatever it can to minimize the difficulties brought by these challenging times.” (PR)
