THE chief of the state-run Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) has resigned, leaving Cagayan de Oro and the rest of Region 10’s primary frontliner in efforts to keep Covid-19 from further spreading in this part of the country without a clear leader.

Dr. Jose Chan submitted his resignation on Tuesday, packed up, and no longer reported for work yesterday. His resignation took effect on Thursday, the Gold Star Daily learned.

Although he cited medical reasons in his resignation letter, he quit days after he reportedly figured in a heated confrontation with another doctor over internal matters, including the non-release of funds for NMMC workers’ hazard pay and risk allowances. (Herbie Gomez)
